THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE

2010 | Jon Turteltaub
★★★½☆

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is a fantasy adventure film focusing in Balthazar, one of the three apprentices of the great wizard Merlin.

He has been searching thousands of year to find the Prime Merlinian, who will become Merlin’s successor and stop Morgana le Fay from using the forbidden magic to rise all dead Morganians, and enslave every human.

The story is nothing new actually, there are bad guys, then good guys come and save the world. But Jon Turteltaub, the director of National Treasure has transformed symphonic poem by Paul Dukas and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s poem into something cute and magical.

They even put the famous scene from Disney’s Fantasia and stuff, which is great to watch in live action. And that line from Star Wars came out of nowhere made me laugh uncontrollably.

It is a movie for children and those with pure heart spirits who still believe in magic.
