The Princess and the Frog
2009 | Ron Clements & John Musker
The Princess and the Frog is an animated film based on E.D. Baker’s novel “The Frog Princess”, which was inspired by The Grimm Brothers’ fairytale “The Frog Prince”.
The film depicts the story of a waitress tiana who has a dream that one day she will have the restaurant of her own. She is working hard to save enough money for the down payment. However she will lose the bid to another bidder unless she can top that with higher amount of cash. When all hope seems to be lost, she meets a talking frog who claims to be a prince and if she kissed him to break the voodoo spell, he will reward her with money.
Unfortunately the spell does not break, and horrifyingly she turns into a frog just like him. They must find the way to return to human as quickly as possible.
The magic of Disney has return once again with musical animated film directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, directors of my favorite Disney animated features like “The Little Mermaid”, “Aladdin”, and “Hercules”. The Princess and the Frog is definitely an instant classic, with wonderful tunes composed by Randy Newman. If you love Disney musical and 2D animation, this one is not to be missed.
