THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
Marc Webb
(2012)
From the director of (500) Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man is a reboot of Sam Raimi’s film series (Thank God, someone actually did a reboot, and Marc Webb is truly amazing!) with brilliant script written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac), Alvin Sargent (Spider-Man 1-3), Steve Kloves (Harry Potter film series)
The film depicts a new dimension of Spider-Man and Peter Parker, it is like a story of Spider-Man in parallel universe where some of the characters stay the same, some of them just don’t. I love this version so much (Maybe because I hate Sam Raimi’s version) I love Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, she looks pretty and smart, unlike stupid and dull Mary Jane Watson in original Spider-Man. I also love Sally Field as new aunt May.
The Amazing Spider-Man also features artificial webs fired from wrist-mounted guns on both hands of Spider-Man which actually are created by Peter Parker as they were in the comic book series.
New Peter Parker, portrayed by Andrew Garfield is fun and looks more charming than Tobey Maguire’s version (which was boring and so depressing as if happiness was sucked out of his life)
So if you love dramatic Sam Raimi’s version of Spider-Man, you are probably not gonna like this one as much. But if you do not like Sam Raimi’s version, I can assure that you will incredibly enjoy this film.
