Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

This is fourth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean series. I love adventurous fantasy film, so this review will be heavily biased. The story is based on a novel On Stranger Tides written by Tim Powers, which also inspired the famous game The Secret of Monkey Island.

Jack Sparrow is inevitably forced to travel across the seas in a quest to find what so called “The Fountain of Youth” which a myth says whoever drinks from it shall restore the youth. But there is ritual which is required in order to get it to work properly; a teardrop of a mermaid and the mythical silver Chalices from Santiago, the ship of Ponce de León which disappeared over 200 years ago.

The storyline is actually pretty good. It is almost as good as the first installment; The Curse of the Black Pearl. The soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer once again live up to the expectation with signature of Pirates of the Caribbean which makes you instantly recognize it upon hearing at any moment. Recurring characters include Mr. Gibbs (Kevin McNally), Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), and of course the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). Also introducing new interesting characters; Captain Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Angelica (Penélope Cruz) and Syrena the mermaid (Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey). They are all amazing.

The fifth and sixth installment of the series are coming along the way. Well, I am a fan of pirates traveling across seven seas searching for incredible and fantastical objects which are unbelievable beyond imagination or any logic. They can keep it coming and I will keep watching. Only in cinema, folks.
