you are always gonna be my love
I’ll remember to love, you taught me how
You are always gonna be the one 今はまだ悲しい love song
you will always be inside my heart
I hope that I have a place in your heart too,
now and forever you are still the one
You are always gonna be my love
I’ll remember to love, you taught me how
You are always gonna be the one まだ悲しい love song
now and forever…

This is one of my most beloved albums of all time. First Love is the Japanese debut album by Utada Hikaru 10 years ago, it was official released on march 10, 1999. The album sold over over 2 million copies within its debut week. To date, this album already sold over 7 million copies in japan alone which makes ‘First Love’ the best selling album in japanese music history.

The cd contains 12 tracks including 1 remixed bonus track as follows; 1. Automatic -Album Edit- 2. Movin’ on with out you 3. In My Room 4. First Love 5. 甘いワナ ~Paint It, Black 6. time will tell 7. Never Let Go 8. B&C -Album Version- 9. Another Chance 10. Interlude 11. Give Me A Reason 12. Automatic -Johnny Vicious Temix-

All songs were written by Utada Hikaru herself, except a part of the song “甘いワナ ~Paint It, Black” which was originally written by Mick Jagger & Keith Richards.

Every song in the album is incredibly superb, from the very first song “Automatic”, great song for album opener. followed by “Movin’ on without you” and my personal favorite, “In My Room”.

Of course the best song in this album is “First Love” which in my opinion is one of the best ballad songs in decades. Listening to this song again after ten years, it still sounds fresh and brilliant like the first time I heard it. Not just the melody and words that is perfectly well balanced.

The promotional video for this song is simply lovely and wonderful. If you look closely, the scene at the end and the beginning of the song is actually the same scene just like an infinite loop. By the way, you can watch the video below.
