The film is based on the true story of a Spanish family spending their Christmas vacation in tropical resort Thailand. One morning, a tsunami hits while they are relaxing by the swimming pool area close to the beach. Everything happens so fast, the entire area is completer destroyed while the family is separated. They desperately search for each other.
Then we all know, that all of them survive to tell their story. But the point is the director of EL ORFANATO has successfully delivered such powerful storytelling again. He now has become one of my most favorite director! The special effect is incredibly amazing, it is so real and extremely intense. This is definitely one of the best films of 2012. Tom Holland’s performance is marvelous, I think he deserves an Oscar. Well, everything in this film deserves an Oscar.
