PJ Palfrey (Jimmy Tatro) arrives in Snow Hollow, a small town in Utah, for a romantic getaway with his girlfriend Brianne (Annie Hamilton). He has planned the perfect evening to propose to her, but his world shatters when Brianne is found dead outside their rental house. Her body appears to have been attacked by a wild animal, as evidenced by the large footprints left behind at the crime scene.

Deputy Sheriff John Marshall (Jim Cummings) is summoned to the murder scene with fellow officer Julia Robson (Riki Lindhome) and his father, Hadley (Robert Forster), the town’s sheriff who has refused to retire. Upon initial examination of the corpse, they discover that parts of her body are missing. It is their duty to determine who or what is responsible for this gruesome murder.

John, a deputy sheriff struggling with anger management issues and alcoholism, is temporarily caring for his headstrong teenage daughter Jenna (Chloe East) after his recent divorce with Brittany (Rachel Day). At work, he must deal with fellow officers who believe that the police job is easy, as there has never been an actual crime in their town.

As the news reports that the police still have no plausible leads on the murderer, tensions in the town rise. When a second body is found, John deduces that it is the work of a serial killer and suggests that the killer must still be hiding somewhere in town. The rest of the officers and the townspeople, however, believe that a werewolf is responsible, as both victims were killed on full moon nights.

Written and directed by American filmmaker Jim Cummings, The Wolf of Snow Hollow is an impressive detective comedy thriller film with quirky characters and a captivating script.

The filmmaker deftly balances the seriousness of the plot with comedic elements, resulting in scenes that are both funny and suspenseful, as the protagonist is determined to find the killer, while the rest of his team just want to return to the peaceful life they once knew.

Each character is well-developed and has their own shining moment. While the ending is not entirely unpredictable, it is still a satisfying conclusion to a compelling detective story that keeps the audience engaged throughout, trying to figure out who the real killer is: is it human or a mythical creature?

The Wolf of Snow Hollow received a limit theatrical release in the United States on 9 October 2020. The film was released digitally on Video On Demand on the same day.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow was released on Blu-ray on 15 December 2020 in the United States. The Blu-ray features a 1080p video transfer with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The audio is presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound.

Special features include a brief making-of featurette with director Jim Cummings discussing his role and direction, a short segment with cast members sharing their experiences working with Cummings, a promotional featurette discussing the film’s narrative without revealing spoilers, and a behind-the-scenes look at the werewolf costume design, which includes spoilers regarding the werewolf’s identity.
