IRON MAN
Jon Favreau
(2008)
A superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, is the creation of writer and editor Stan Lee and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. The character first appeared in Tales of Suspense #39 in 1963 and received his own title with Iron Man #1 in 1968.
It tells the story of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who makes his fortune by designing and selling advanced weapons technology.
After demonstrating his newly invented Jericho missile, Tony Stark is ambushed and abducted by terrorists. He wakes up in a cave, held captive, and realizes that he has a device attached to his chest, built by his fellow prisoner, Dr. Yinsen (Shaun Toub), to save his life.
The terrorists demand that Tony Stark build the Jericho missile for them using his own Stark Industries products. Instead, Stark and Yinsen collaborate to build a miniature arc reactor and a prototype Iron Man armor suit, which Stark uses to escape.
Tony Stark returns home after being rescued by Rhodes Terrence Howard) and announces that his company will cease manufacturing weapons. Obadiah Stane, his father’s old partner and the company’s manager, warns Stark that this decision could ruin Stark Industries and his father’s legacy.Tony Stark constructs a sleeker, superior version of his armor suit and a more powerful arc reactor in his workshop, which he intends to use as a superhero to fight crime.
I am deeply impressed by Iron Man, which has brilliantly brought the comic book character to life. It is one of my favorite films, and its CGI effects are incredibly realistic and stunning. If you thought the user interface in Minority Report was advanced, you may think again when you see the interactive three-dimensional holograms in Stark’s lab.
IRON MAN is a thrilling film from start to finish. Forget about superheroes with tortured souls and prepare for a wild ride. Go see it in cinemas today! Highly recommended. In the film, you will see three of IRON MAN’s armors which are the original MK I, MK II, and MK III.
IRON MAN premiered at the Greater Union theater in Sydney 14 April 2008, and began its international theatrical release on 30 April. It was theatrically released in the United States on 2 May.
