The Thaw
2009 | Mark A. Lewis
The Thaw depicts the consequence of Global Warming crisis when nobody is listening. A research team discovers a perfect condition mammoth frozen in the melting ice which is caused by the rise of earth’s weather temperature. But that is not the only discovery they find. Soon several members in the team experience a strange illness and begins to die. Now they realize that they are confronting with ancient disease and probably it comes from the mammoth.
Head of the team, Dr. David Kruipen (Val Kilmer) decides not to go back because it could be contagious. He tries to stop his daughter to come to the field, but she refuses and tags along with other three students on the field trip. By the time they arrive the base camp, it is already too late.
The story is nothing new. People dig something, people find something, people starts dying, then someone comes to save the day (or not). At least the special effect on slimy bugs and gooey stuff look quite okay. The rest? I better sleep. I cannot find the release date, I guess it is a grade-C flick that goes straight to DVD.
