The Big Bang Theory is a sitcom series about an experimental physicist, Dr. Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and a theory physicist, Dr. Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) who are sharing an apartment together. Across the hall is the apartment of new girl in town, Penny (Kaley Cuoco), an attractive blond waitress with show-biz aspirations.
Sheldon and Leonard have two friends who visit them regularly, Dr. Rajesh Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar) an Indian who works as a particle astrophysicist; and Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), the engineer, Howard is the only person in the group who doesn’t have Ph.D. (he’s got master degree in engineering from MIT)
In season one, Leonard falls in love with Penny. the story follows these five main characters, and everyone of them has some kind of weird and funny characteristics which makes the series quite amusing and entertaining to watch.
The reason why Leonard and Sheldon are living together is a mystery. Sheldon once said if he could afford to pay the rent alone he would not have to stay with Leonard. But penny who works as a waitress in cheesecake factory is able to pay the rent by herself.
