The Awakening
2011 | Nick Murphy
The story depicts a published author on supernatural hoaxes Florence Cathcart. She also works with police to expose charlatans who try to fool people with their trickery. One day she receives strange request from a boarding school teacher to help explain the recent death of a boy and a ghost which is believed to be a boy who was killed long time ago.
The cast members are amazing and believable, especially the performance of Rebecca Hall and Imelda Staunton. The production is creepy yet elegant. This film could be an instant classic although the relationship between characters Florence and Robert is a kind of strange. Despite of unnecessary melodrama and a bit disappointing ending, the film definitely can keep audience on their tiptoes wondering what is going to happen next.
