Anton Yelchin

Анто́н Ви́кторович Е́льчин

Anton Yelchin was a Russian-born American actor best known for his roles in both major Hollywood films and independent productions. Yelchin began acting as a child, gaining early recognition for his performance in Hearts in Atlantis (2001). He later starred in the TV series Huff (2004–2006) and in films such as Charlie Bartlett (2007), Terminator Salvation (2009), and Fright Night (2011). He achieved widespread fame for portraying Pavel Chekov in the rebooted Star Trek film series (Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and Star Trek Beyond (2016).
He died tragically at age 27 on 19 June 2016, in a freak accident at his Los Angeles home, when his parked Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled backward and pinned him against a brick pillar and security fence. His death was attributed to a design flaw in the vehicle’s gear shifter, which later led to a recall of that model.
