INSIDE JOB
Charles Ferguson
(2010)
Academy Award winning documentary feature directed by Charles H. Ferguson. The film depicts the financial crisis between 2007 – 2010, the systemic corruption of the United States by the financial services industry and the consequences of that systemic corruption.
The film is divided into five parts exploring the changes in the policy environment and banking practices which leads to the 2008 global financial crisis.
For decades the American financial system was stable and safe, but then something changed. The financial industry turned its back on society, corrupted our political system and plunged the world economy into crisis. At enormous cost we avoided disaster and our recovery. But the men and institutions that caused the crisis are still in power. And that needs to change. They will tell us that we need them and that what they do is too complicated for us to understand. They will tell us it won’t happen again. They will spend billions fighting reform. It won’t be easy… but somethings are worth fighting for.
The film is brilliant in every which way. Gripping script and terrific interviews. No wonder it’s one of the best documentary films in years.
