病気は どうして私を選んだのだろう
運命なんて言葉では かたづけられないよ
This disease, why did it choose me?
Fate. It can’t be put into words.
I cried…
The story of 1リットルの涙 is based on true story of a Japanese girl who had suffered with a disease called Spinocerebellar Degeneration, a terrible incurable disease that gradually deteriorates a part of patient’s brain to the point where the he/she can no longer walk, speak, write or even swallow.
She was diagnosed when she was only 15 years old. She kept writing her diary about her thoughts, her life and her experiences to remember that she was alive until the time when she could no longer hold her pen.
Her diary “1リットルの涙” was published after her death. It has been an inspiration for people who has suffered from the same disease. So far, her diary has been sold over 18,000,000 copies in Japan alone.
Drama series “1リットルの涙” (Ichi rittoru no namida / 1 Litre of Tears) is much better than 世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ (Crying out love, in the center of the world) and いま、会いにゆきます (Be With You).
There were so much “love” and “pain” in 1リットルの涙, you have to see it for yourself. Her story, her strength, her courage, her pain. It’s simply beyond words. It will linger in you mind for a very long time. It will make you appreciate life even more and treasure every bit of your time in this world.
