2012
Roland Emmerich
(2009)
2012 is a science fiction disaster film based loosely on the 2012 phenomenon which depicts on a range of beliefs and proposals positing that cataclysmic events will occur on December 21, 2012 as it is the last date on the Mayan long count calendar which is represented 5,125 years in total.
The film begins with the discovery of unusual solar flare causing the earth’s core to heat up at unprecedented rate. Soon the report is filed to the top, President of the United States.
Leader of America and other countries secretly develop a special plan to ensure the survival of mankind as a series of catastrophic event begins to occur. The resource is limited and the time is running out. It is impossible to save everyone.
Roland Emmerich once again has done a phenomenal job creating an apocalyptic world like we have never seen before in any other movies. The visual feast is majestic, it is far better than what we saw in “The Day After Tomorrow”.
2012 is highly recommended for watching in cinema on the biggest screen you can possibly find. The only downside of this film would be the effort to bring in too many boring dramatic moments with sloppy dialogue as if they spent all their money on visual effects.
2012 was theatrically released on November 12, 2009 in Thailand and on November 13, in the United States.
